At the time of your telephone application, an in-person interview appointment will be scheduled.   Every effort is made to schedule an appointment at your convenience.

All parents must verify that they are either employed or registered in studies or a training program prior to eligibility being approved.

You will be advised of the documents you must bring to your appointment.

The result of the calculations used on the Provincial Day Nurseries Act "Income test", will bear out your eligibility for child care fee assistance.  A family may be eligible for either partial or full subsidy or be deemed "ineligible" and will know the outcome of their assessment following the in-person interview.  Interviews are approximately one half hour in length.

Choosing Child Care

  1. Consider the type of care which best suits your child and your daily schedule, i.e.  "in-home" or "centre-based" care.
  2. Contact more than one provider and arrange to visit the centre or "in-home" caregiver.
  3. Ask questions!!!
  4. Ask about additional fees,  i.e. registration fees, "user fees", etc.
  5. Look for the centre or agency license, it should be prominently posted.
  6. Check the playrooms and Parent Bulletin Boards for activity schedules, daily menus, special events, etc.
  7. Be sure to obtain a Parent Handbook which will explain the centre or agency policies and procedures.
